Session Description:

For over 25 years, Motivational Interviewing (MI) has been a counseling modality used to walk patients through periods of ambivalence towards self-identified goals. Although the technique is typically used in therapeutic relationships, there is broad application in healthcare settings especially in preventive care.

The goal of this two-part webinar series is to provide health center staff with a foundation for understanding and implementing Motivational Interviewing. Facilitated by Julie Ribardo, PhD, Associate Administrator (Quality) of HealthPoint Community Health Centers, session participants will learn about: the basic tenants of MI; how to identify opportunities to utilize MI in time-constrained health center settings; and the ways in which MI can be used in telehealth. Case examples and role play will be used as well. Please note that this is note a certification course. All Health Center staff are encouraged to participate, especially those who work directly with patients on health education, vaccine administration, and behavioral health. TACHC Staff will be on board to facilitate the discussion and able to follow up with any needs that are identified.
