Information Systems Engineer

The Texas Association of Community Health Centers, Inc. (TACHC) is a mission-driven non-profit organization. Everything TACHC does is focused on the mission to develop, educate, support, and advocate for its member centers, their patients, and the communities they serve. Our membership consists of federally qualified health centers that provide care for the most underserved and vulnerable individuals. We provide many services for health centers, including providing IT support, operational training and support, recruiting assistance, legal guidance and support. These efforts help health centers provide better care to more patients within the challenging situations that are inherent in serving individuals in difficult life, health, or financial situations.

What You Will Do:

As a System Engineer, you will help TACHC improve our systems infrastructure to ensure the highest level of reliability, recoverability, and maintainability. You will leverage your breadth of knowledge related to architecture and technology to help drive the adoption of relevant cloud and automation technologies.

You will provide technical planning, implementation, and support to maintain and elevate our internal and member staff productivity and patient service through technology, including server and storage maintenance and backups, VMware environments, active directory, email services and hosting, email anti-virus/anti-SPAM/email encryption. Additionally, provide desktop and mobile security and support to TACHC staff and maintain remote backup and replication systems both in the office and in colocation sites. Maintain software compliance and hardware/software support contracts, plan, consult, and perform procurement procedures on IT and technical-related purchases. This position must also travel occasionally to member sites for consultation with their staff regarding computer systems.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities

· Server upgrades, maintenance, and operation

· Ensuring high availability of critical systems

· Design and implement systems in a mixed server/OS environment

· Automation of key functions across the TACHC infrastructure

· Selection and implementation of key technologies to move TACHC forward technologically

· Exchange, email hosting, email antispam/email server configuration, security and maintenance

· Physical and virtual server configuration and maintenance

· Process and policy development to maximize uptime, security, and automation

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· High availability architecture and design

· Disaster planning and disaster recovery

· Multi-data center operation and orchestration

· Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or similar)

· Automation development and tools (PowerShell, Shell Scripting, orchestration)

· Infrastructure and system design

· Vendor negotiation and purchasing

· Advanced Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory

· Advanced experience with virtualization including VMWare and Hyper-V

Education & Experience:


· Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in IT or health care related field

· 3+ years of experience

· Experience selecting and implementing new technology solutions


· Relevant certifications such as MCSE or VCA

· Experience designing and implementing high availability environments

· Experience transitioning from on-premise to cloud solutions
