As the Director of Policy and External Communications for the Texas Association of Community Health Centers (TACHC), Mimi Garcia provides leadership on state and federal policy issues, and oversees strategic communications, as well as civic engagement supporting health centers across Texas. Prior to joining TACHC Ms. Garcia was the Texas State Director for Enroll America, a national non-profit organization committed to maximizing the number of uninsured Americans enrolling and retaining health coverage.
Ms. Garcia earned her Masters of Public Policy from the Heller School of Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, a Masters of Arts in Jewish Professional Leadership from Brandeis University. Ms. Garcia attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX where she received a BA in Sociology and Feminist Studies. She is a native Texan and has devoted her career to improving the lives, health and wellbeing of all Texans. Ms. Garcia has worked in health advocacy, public investment, and social justice projects for more than 15 years.
