Natural Hazards By County
These report contains narratives, maps and table that describe and quantify natural hazard risks in Texas per county. This information is intended for the use of mitigation planners, emergency managers, professionals in related fields and the general public.
The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) and the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) require communities to develop hazard mitigation plans to participate in disaster recovery and mitigation grant programs. Risk assessments are important and fundamental components of these plans. The primary purposes of this effort has been:
- To provide basic assessments of natural hazard risks for Texas counties statewide, and
- To provide community mitigation planners a head-start on developing the risk assessments required of a community hazard mitigation plan.
