Trauma Informed Care (TIC) Session on Human TraffickingHealthcare providers are often an initial point of contact, or first line responder, for people who are experiencing or a survivor of human trafficking. Health center providers, especially medical, dental, behavioral health, and substance use providers, serve as critical points for prevention and intervention. Collaborative and trauma informed responses with healthcare providers across disciplines helps promote health and well-being, in addition to responding to acute health needs of survivors. This TIC Special Topic Session will provide an opportunity for all health center staff to learn key strategies and recommendations for establishing safety amidst cultural humility in the context of human trafficking, particularly among special populations such as youth/young people, LGBTQ+, and immigrant communities. |
